Meet Chris Caldera — Master Electrician & Owner

A discipline forged in the U.S. Army. Applied to every job since.

I started my career in electrical work as a Tactical Wire Operations Specialist in the United States Army, serving in Europe during the Cold War. That experience gave me something no classroom can — the discipline to do the job right the first time, under pressure, with no room for shortcuts.

When I came home, I brought that same mindset into the private sector. I joined a company that eventually became Sylvania Lighting, where I worked my way through projects of every size and complexity — from straightforward ballast changes to overseeing high-profile work on high-rise buildings, government facilities, and financial institutions, some valued at over $1,000,000.

Over the course of more than 40 years and 13,000+ assignments, I’ve seen just about every electrical situation there is — in old homes, new builds, and everything in between. That depth of experience is what I bring to every job I take on, whether it’s a simple repair or a full rewire.

When you hire me, you’re not getting a crew you’ve never met or a company that sends a different face every time. You get me — directly — from the first call to the final inspection. I take that responsibility seriously, and I’m proud of the work I do for every client.

The Craft Comes First

Electrical work isn’t just a trade — it’s a craft. Every installation, repair, and upgrade is performed with the mindset that it should be clean, correct, and built to last. Not rushed. Not improvised.

🔍 Attention to Detail

In electrical work, details aren’t a preference — they’re what keep people safe. From precise wire terminations to clean panel layouts and code-compliant labeling, nothing gets overlooked.

🤝 Direct Master Electrician

No rotating crew. No hand-offs. You work directly with Chris from start to finish — clear communication, real accountability, and consistency throughout your entire project.

Frequently Asked Questions

What electrical services does Caldera Power Services provide?

Caldera Power Services handles a wide range of residential and commercial electrical work, including lighting installation, panel upgrades and additions, circuit additions, home rewiring, occupancy controls (Lutron and Convia systems), efficiency analysis and retrofits, electrical troubleshooting, and EV charger installation. We also perform safety evaluations and old home inspections across the San Gabriel Valley and surrounding Southern California communities.

Do you work on older homes?

Absolutely — older homes are one of our specialties. Southern California has a large number of homes with aging wiring, outdated panels, and legacy electrical systems. With over 30 years of hands-on experience, I’ve worked on everything from brand-new construction to 100-year-old craftsman homes. I understand both modern code requirements and the quirks of older systems, so nothing catches me off guard.

Can you install an EV charger at my home?

Yes — EV charger installation is one of our most frequently requested services. Whether you drive a Tesla, a Rivian, or any other electric vehicle, I’ll assess your panel capacity, run the appropriate wiring, and install the right outlet or hardwired charger for your setup. Every installation is done to code and built to last.

Why are my lights flickering?

Flickering lights — especially when appliances, microwaves, or air conditioners kick on — are one of the most common calls I receive. It usually points to a voltage fluctuation, an overloaded circuit, a loose connection, or an undersized electrical service. It’s worth taking seriously, as these issues can be a fire or safety risk if left unaddressed. I’ll diagnose the cause and walk you through your options clearly and honestly.

How do I know if I need a panel upgrade?

Signs that your panel may need an upgrade include frequently tripped breakers, flickering lights, a panel that feels warm to the touch, burning smells near the electrical box, or a home that still has a fuse box rather than a breaker panel. If you’re adding an EV charger, a hot tub, or doing a remodel, a panel upgrade is often necessary. I’ll assess your current service and give you an honest recommendation.

Is Caldera Power Services licensed and insured?

Yes. I hold a California Contractors License Board License #806512 and a California Department of Industrial Relations Electrician’s License #158684. I’m also OSHA 30 certified and carry the additional credentials required for work on military, government, and specialized commercial facilities. You can hire with full confidence that your job is being handled by a properly licensed and insured Master Electrician.

What areas do you serve?

Caldera Power Services is based in Monrovia and primarily serves the San Gabriel Valley and surrounding Southern California communities, including Pasadena, Arcadia, Azusa, Glendora, Covina, Duarte, Temple City, El Monte, and neighboring cities. Not sure if we cover your area? Give us a call — we’re happy to help.

Will I work directly with Chris, or will a crew be sent?

You work directly with me. When you call Caldera Power Services, I answer the phone. When we schedule the job, I show up. There’s no rotating crew, no hand-offs, and no surprises. That personal accountability is something I take seriously — it’s one of the things my clients consistently mention in their reviews, and it’s a standard I intend to keep.

Are there jobs you don't take on?

Yes — and I believe in being upfront about it. I don’t take on general construction wiring for large commercial jobs over 10,000 sq. ft., HVAC/air conditioner installation (though I will run the electrical wiring for HVAC systems), or water heater and garbage disposal installation (those are a plumber’s job — but again, I’ll handle the electrical lines). If your job falls outside my scope, I’ll tell you honestly and point you in the right direction.
